In his first talk of 2020, Ross shares how product design and strategy can be developed rapidly in a remote environment. It’s not simply about being introduced to the tools, but the principles and the behaviours that need to change. Attendees will see first-hand how design can be lead through frameworks, a two-way conversation between data and design, and sharing how this is facilitated through visual collaboration tools. Ross will explore how you can work alone, but also together as a team, and what principles you need as a foundation to build not just a better product, but a better performing team and wider organisation.
AB testing is one of the tools that is used to validate product, design and engineering decisions whether that’s testing a different image, string of text, to testing a completely new feature. In this talk, Sim Wishlade will talk through lessons learned from AB testing during his time at OpenTable: what feels right to you often isn't right at all, when tests win but aren't the right thing to do, and making sure you're set up to give your tests the best chance of winning.
His goal for this talk is to help those that would like to get into AB testing but unsure of where to start, and once started how to avoid some of the common pitfalls and lose less – helping your work have more impact on the business and helping it to grow.
In today’s complex landscape of product creation, people are struggling to work with each other. Fortunately, teams are successfully bringing value to their organizations and to their markets. Collaborative, cross-functional work is at the heart of these innovative teams. You might say that teams are the unit of innovation. This talk is designed to give you immediate and practical insight into the work of the product design teams we at InVision work with every day.
Designers have long been champions for the user—believing that good design is good business. Yet, design continues to be left out of strategic business decisions. Designers get paid less than their product, engineering and data counterparts. And design founders are such a rarity that entire VC firms are coming online just to support them.
In this talk, Lex Roman explains how designers can better connect their work to the business. When designers directly contribute to business growth, their voices get heard and their ideas get investment. Lex will share four key skills that empower designers to deliver both customer and business value. Armed with these skills, you’ll be able to measure the power of your work and improve the impact you can have in your organisation.
